Following her acclaimed recital dedicated to exiled composers, violinist Sueye Park joins forces with the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin and conductor Valentin Egel to explore the shared musical DNA of Karl Goldmark and Jean Sibelius. Though from different generations and cultures, both composers were virtuoso violinists who drew early inspiration from Mendelssohn and Wagner. Their paths famously crossed in Vienna (1890–91) when a young Sibelius studied under Goldmark, a brief but significant mentorship that serves as the inspiration for this beautifully paired album.

At the heart of the programme is Goldmark’s Violin Concerto No. 1 in A minor (1877), a sweeping, deeply expressive masterpiece that seamlessly marries vibrant Hungarian folk inflections with rich German Romanticism. Complementing this major concerto are several of Sibelius's exquisite shorter works for violin and orchestra, including his late Suite, JS 185, the lyrical Two Serious Melodies, and the highly charismatic, technical Humoresques, Op. 87.
