The Messenger

'A moving, powerful story about love in a time of danger' Michael Rosen

From brilliant debut talent Lyndsay Roberts Rayne, this is the incredible tale of how one small WWI messenger dog made a huge sacrifice. It's a timeless story of war, friendship and courage.

The Messenger follows Nell, a brave dog removed from the gentle rhythms of farm life and thrown into the chaos of the First World War. Amidst the mud, fire and fear, Nell runs with messages that could save lives.

This stunningly illustrated, wordless picture book is a beautiful exploration of the unbreakable bond between humans and animals, and is a gentle but still very real introduction to themes of war for readers of all ages. A book to be treasured forever.
