She Composed is an artistically compelling and culturally significant double-album project that brings to life an expansive, multi-century survey of piano music written by women. The repertoire travels from the Baroque elegance of Élisabeth-Claude Jacquet de la Guerre and Elisabetta de Gambarini, through the rich Romanticism of Clara Schumann, Fanny Hensel, and Emilie Mayer, up to the modern and contemporary voices of Lili Boulanger, Mel Bonis, and Karen Tanaka. Notably, the compilation places a vibrant spotlight on Latin American and Black composers—such as Florence Price, Teresa Carreño, Beatriz Lockhart, and Lía Cimaglia Espinosa—injecting the anthology with unique rhythmic, urban, and folkloric flavor profiles.
