Celebrating 100 years of The Walt Disney Company, The King’s Singers (whose own history goes back some 55 years) perform songs from each decade of the studio’s existence. “It’s a love letter to Disney,” say the members of the British vocal group, praising the organisation’s “extraordinary contribution to today’s musical and cultural landscape”.

In addition to the emblematic title track from Pinocchio, there are 11 numbers from Disney’s treasury of animated classics. Among them are ‘Colors of the Wind’ from Pocahontas (with a guest appearance by mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato), ‘Let It Go’ from Frozen (with cellist Edgar Moreau), and ‘Once Upon a Dream’ from Sleeping Beauty (with trumpeter Lucienne Renaudin Vary). The virtuoso close-harmony arrangements are the work of such composers as John Rutter, Nico Muhly, Alexander L’Estrange, Toby Young, Jim Clements and Jamey Ray. It all adds up to an album which, to quote another song on the tracklist, is nothing less than ‘Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious’.
