The battle of Dunkerque is certainly on of the most terrible and tragic episode of the French campaign. At the end of exhausting retreat, about 350 000 Franco-British soldiers concentrated in the bridgehead of Dunkerque and protected by three French divisions in charge of leading retarding fights, will be evacuated by sea, escaping captivity or death.
