Jonathan Swift is brilliant in this satire of human nature. Lemuel Gulliver is a surgeon turned ship's captain whose four voyages to fantastical lands will enchant the reader. His first voyage to the land of little people, Lilliput, is followed by a voyage to Brobdingnag, the land of giants. Gulliver then travels to Laputa a flying island and in the final voyage discovers Houghnhmns, where horses are the rulers and man exists in a deformed state.
