The information contained within can be had from many sources and the author makes no claim at originality. Many of the customs were personally investigated by Williamson. His aim was simply to bring together, for the sake of interest and convenience, many of the strange survivals as seemed important to mention to create a volume of references to old customs still remaining in England.
