Oxbow says: The West Coast Line Project sought to investigate a series of rivers valleys in southern Sweden in advance of a new railway line being built through it. This volume, the second of three reports on the project, addresses the rich Neolithic evidence revealed through excavations in the area. Evidence for Neolithic domestic settlements, cemeteries and graves, megalithic tombs, wetland deposits and special assembly places, are presented ahead of more general synthesis and interpretation of the emergence, organisation and transformation of Neolithic societies from the earliest Funnel Beaker culture to the Battle Axe culture. Magnus Andersson draws the different strands of data together to discover the nature of Neolithic people in southern Sweden, how they were socially organised, and how they interacted with different places and the landscape.
