Technological advancements and national security efforts have stimulated debate on civil liberties. The authors in this anthology examine whether or not the basic rights guaranteed by the U.S. Constitutions such as the freedoms of speech, press, and religion and the rights to due process, privacy, and equal protection under the law are threatened and, if so, how the government and the courts should respond.
