It explores several aspects of Edip's career in India including the questions she confronts on gender, modernity, freedom movement, Gandhian movement, religion and politics, and everyday life.
At another level, the volume identifies common currents of history and experience between India and Turkey. It explores a number of issues of tremendous significance for the histories of liberation struggles and nation building in the Third World in general and Muslim/Islamic world in particular.
