Max Weber's Late Work and the Fiscal Constitution of a New German Democracy': In the midst of the Great War, Max Weber began to campaign vigorously for the centralization of parliamentary control over state finances. His profound knowledge of 'political' economics and fiscal sociology served him well in this endeavor. In 1918/19, he condemned both, new forms of exploitation and old wealth, socialist revolutionaries and the reactionary feudal powers, advocating instead for a tax-based republic. His activism shaped all of his late writings, as this reinterpretation shows.
