Book description: Art to accompany a town in the process of being built. The fair town of Riem being built near Munich was chosen as the location for 20 art projects through internationally recognised artists that extended over a four-year period. The projects, between building site and new architecture, are presented here by texts and illustrations. The authors, the cultural adviser Lydia Hartl, the responsible curator Claudia Büttner, the sociologist Hartmut Häußermann, the critic Heinz Schütz and the publicist Stella Rollig contribute with scholarly articles on the conception and realisation, as well as on urbanism and art in new urban areas and in democracies.
