ever since we had the ability to create our own culture, gay men have a special way of expressing their adoration towards their idols. A woman hasn't really made it to the top until she has been spoofed on some stage by an ambitioned queen. After German photographer Peter Werner has had the first shootings with men in drag who took a bow to their idols, he was overwhelmed by the request that followed. Everybody wanted to be a part of the project. Me and My Idol is the result of this work - creative, colorful and shrill. It is a wonderful homage to our female icons, with beforeafter-comparisons that are pretty often astounding.
