Kyseessä on sarjakuva-kokonaisuuden ensimmäinen osa. City Of Lights on omakustannesarjakuva, jonka olen tehnyt amerikkalaisen kaverini Joe Orengon (Varg Vargas) kanssa. Se on englanninkielinen tarina, jossa on käytetty Joen luomaa Gost Casebook -kirjoitustyyliä. Se on tyyli, jossa tarkoituksenmukaisesti rikotaan kielioppirajoja ja pyritään luomaan tarinalle rikkinäinen kokonaisuus ilmaisukeinojen kautta, joita täytyy sulatella.
CITY OF LIGHTS - Issue 1. - the City.
In the City of Lights, dreams don’t shine, they flicker. They burn out.
CITY OF LIGHTS is a fractured neo-noir survival story told through broken memories, unfinished prayers, and dead-end streets. Here, ambition is currency. Hope is debt. Survival costs more than anyone can pay.
The City of Lights isn’t a setting. It’s a system. It breathes. It edits. It erases. It sells itself as a kingdom. Gold for anyone fast enough to grab it. “Fake. Make,” not advice— gospel. Ritual. But under rooftop cocktails and flashing signs, something else moves. It takes. It mutates. It forgets who you were. It remakes you into something useful. Or it erases you completely.
Ben, a young man whose family once believed in utopia, now stands at the river’s edge, the last thin line between illusion and truth. His memories bleed into the city’s heartbeat. He chases ghosts, debts, and lost blood. He hunts justice. Or vengeance. Maybe both. Every step forward loops him deeper into the labyrinth, where saints burn, sinners reign, and nothing stays buried.
The story fractures across time. Past and present collapse. Voices glitch. Choices loop without resolution.
You don’t fight the people here. You fight the streets. You fight your reflection. You fight what the city wants you to become.
CITY OF LIGHTS isn’t a story you follow. It’s a wound you inherit. It doesn’t crown winners. It carves survivors.
